We're in a good place

SA Great released a new “Snakes & Ladders” campaign that informs South Australians of the State's current position of strength amongst current global economic conditions.

Developed by Adelaide Advertising Agency KWP! the campaign revolves around a Snakes & Ladders board game and demonstrates that while the economic outlook for much of the world looks uncertain, South Australia’s diverse spread of industries has placed the state in a position where things are in fact looking up.

The campaign includes:

  • A  30 second animated Television Commercial
  • A 30 second radio advertisement and a selection of 10 second "grab facts"
  • A selection of press advertisements
  • Adshel placement
  • On line banners

Education

Mining

  • The world has recognised the potential in South Australia for mining with the Fraser Institute in Canada ranking the State as the fourth most prospective place in the world out of 65 jurisdictions, up from 30th place a few years ago.

 Defence

  • South Australia has major defence projects worth in excess of A$A13 billion, including the:
  • Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) shipbuilding contract, by ASC Pty Ltd;
  • AP-3C Orion maintenance contract, by Tenix Defence and Australian Aerospace;
  • 25-year through-life support contract for Collins Class submarines, by ASC Pty Ltd;

Water

  • South Australia’s water industry is centred on the development of innovative water management systems and the collection, treatment, distribution, re-use and application of water for national and international markets.
  • The industry is experiencing a 15% annual growth rate, contributing about $400 million annually to the State’s economy.

Wine

  • South Australia produces more than half of all Australian wine exports and is the world’s sixth largest wine producer. The State’s exuberant wine sector has helped to position Australia as the largest New World wine exporter and fourth in the world after France, Italy and Spain.

Aerospace and Aviation

  • KPMG in its 2008 survey of 102 international cities listed Adelaide as Australia’s most cost-competitive city. Adelaide was also rated highly as a world location for aerospace, cementing Adelaide’s position as an ideal investment location for all aerospace and aviation operations.
  • South Australia hosts the Australian Defence Force’s aerospace and maritime surveillance operations at Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Edinburgh (A$250 million income from operations at RAAF base Edinburgh), and the world’s largest test facility for long-range missiles and rockets:  the 127,000 square kilometre Woomera defence and commercial test, evaluation and training range.

Advanced Manufacturing:

  • Home to the manufacturing operations of many international firms, including BAE Systems, Raytheon, GM Holden, Bridgestone, Kimberly-Clark, Owens Illinois, etc

Professional Services

  • Service industries are the largest and fastest growing component of the South Australian economy. With an employment growth rate of 14.2% over the past five years, the service sector now accounts for more than 70% of employment and nearly 60% of the State’s output.
