Adelaide’s 88.7 Coast FM has recently been awarded the ‘Bilby’ for Best Produced Community Radio Commercial. The winning sponsorship commercial was produced for Woodville Vet “The Pet Doctor,” with a cat talking about how well they have looked after him. The Bilby Award is like the Oscar of the Community radio world here in South Australia. Congratulations!
Entertainment Centre upgrade
SA Great member The Adelaide Entertainment Centre is all set for a revamp with the State Government approving a $7 million package to upgrade the Centre’s foyer, backstage, parking and corporate facilities. 8000 new seats have also recently been installed after the news that last financial year the Entertainment Centre had 370,000 concert patrons through its doors, the highest crowd figures in the Centre’s 15 year history.
Hassell scoops landscape awards
SA Great member Hassell has scooped four awards at the recent Australian Institute of Landscape Architects 2007 State Awards. The architecture and design firm won the following categories:
• 2007 State Award for Landscape Architecture for the City of Salisbury City Landscape Plan.
• Award of Excellence for Planning in Landscape Architecture, for the City Landscape Plan.
• Merit Award, for Design in Landscape Architecture, for the South East Asian Rainforest Stage 2: Immersion at Adelaide Zoo.
• 2007 Future Leaders Award, was awarded to Landscape Architect Nick Pearson

SA Great member, Gritti Palace has gained national prestige winning the Fellowship for Australian Hairdressing’s award for Outstanding Customer Care. The awards ceremony was held at the Stamford Plaza in Sydney. The Fellowship of Australian Hairdressing awards are recognised internationally and are the who’s who of Australian hairdressing. This is yet another string in the bow for Gritti Palace. Well done!
Young South Australian kicking goals
SA Great’s 2006 Young South Australian of the Year, Nick Palousis was awarded the Eureka Prize for ‘young leaders in environmental issues and climate change’ at the recent Australian Museum’s Eureka Prizes for science. The prize is awarded to a young Australian aged 21-30 for scientific or technological leadership in responding to the challenges that threaten our environment and our climate. The prize is a $10,000 study tour to the UK...Congratulations!
Piper Alderman...business as usual
SA Great members Piper Alderman have been voted best South Australian firm in the 2007 BRW St George Client Choice Awards. The awards commend professional services firms including lawyers, accountants, engineers and consultants and are voted by the clients. The awards come on top of an exciting period of growth for the firm... Congratulations.
Entertainment Centre wins again!
SA Great member The Adelaide Entertainment Centre has once again won the "Safety Award" at the SA Restaurant & Catering Awards in July 2007. This is a significant award given the Adelaide Entertainment Centre employs some 400 casual staff. The Awards dinner was held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on the 30th of July and was a most successful and enjoyable evening for the 1000 industry guests. Well done.
Coopers Vintage best in UK
Coopers Brewery's Extra Strong Vintage Ale has been named the best specialty beer available on the shelves of United Kingdom retailers after winning the 2007 Quality Drink Award in the Lagers and Specialty Beer's category in a competition run by the English retail trade magazine ‘Checkout’. The independent judging panel, comprising wine and beer writers and consultants, described Vintage Ale as "excellent".
South Aussies scoop the Lexus awards
South Australian Melanie Gowers who works for SA Great member, The Adelaide Convention Centre has taken out the Lexus Young Chef for 2007. Melanie will now represent Australia at the S Pellegrino Cooking Cup in Venice July 2008. To add to the fantastic news South Australian Jai Leighton from The Grange, Hilton Adelaide was named the 2007 Lexus Young Waiter of the year...this really goes to show that South Australia leads the way in fine dining!
